A performance-journey by Joana Craveiro
Archaeological notes and concerns from the exhibition REHEARSAL FOR A COMMUNITY – Portrait of a collection under construction (take 1)
This performance, designed as a journey, proposes to interrogate and dig through various layers of the exhibition REHEARSAL FOR A COMMUNITY – Portrait of a collection under construction (take 1), curated by Paulo Mendes, which gathers works from the EDP Foundation Portuguese Art Collection, aligning them in an original and strongly political dramaturgy. The journey proposed by Joana Craveiro, author and interpreter of this performance, looks at the exhibition device and its contents as an archaeological field of meanings and perplexities, isolating topics and moments that are dear to the artist's artistic work.
Committed to recover buried, omitted, or forgotten political memories, Craveiro has been rehearsing ways of amplifying the voices and silences of anonymous actors in historical events that are not recorded in books.
