COUNTER-ARCHITECTURE
Re-constructing Reality
Counter-architecture is a collaborative research-project taking place between September of 2020 and January of 2021 — four performative actions, four talks and four debates that will result in a green paper, in the year where Lisbon is the European Green Capital, aimed to think the future of what we call “urbanity”.
Control/Transgression
Law determines what has and can be limited by the norms by which different human activities are governed. However, there is always a margin for transgression established by the use, in all cultures, which means that “legitimacy”, recognized by most members of a society, does not coincide with strict “legality”. This lends a symbolic character to the law in its spirit or enforcement that the legislator/politician manages, in most cases, accordingly to circumstantial interests. Nevertheless, the creative gesture often moves in that interval, especially in Architecture and the Arts.
