Untitled. Workshops with artists
André Guedes
When a factory closes and is converted into a museum, what kind of life does this place have? What memories does it preserve and time convey? What new realities can we construct for it today? How we are able to absorb this reality is one of the themes proposed by the artist André Guedes in a workshop and conversation included in the B-Side programme for the maat Mode 2020.
Based on a visit to the Secret Tour at Central Tejo, the artist proposes three moments: the viewing of fragments of films on industrial activity; a guided visit to technical areas of the power plant; and an exercise in transposing — through drawing, collage and/or writing — different aspects that question our experience of the place, its history and what it once was.
