This is a tour that takes in various parts of the old Central Tejo, a thermoelectric power station built in 1908 that supplied the entire Lisbon region with electricity. Among the original machinery, which is in perfect condition, the history of this old plant is told, as well as the evolution of electricity up to renewable energies.
This tour includes the exhibition space The History of Energy, where students are invited to walk through the history of energy, from the past to our collective future, focusing on the challenges of the energy transition and sustainability, and are challenged to be active agents of change, adapting their behaviour to the new global climate patterns.
The visit also includes the Laboratory of Inventions, a space where the evolution of the production of various types of energy is discussed with practical demonstrations.
