A talk between artist Vivian Suter and curator Sérgio Mah, as part of the exhibition Disco. This session represents a unique opportunity for the public to gain in-depth insight into the context of the exhibition and Suter's creative process, which is characterised by an intimate relationship with nature.
Disco brings together a set of large-scale paintings by the artist, characterised by their creation outdoors and the integration of natural elements into the artistic process. The works reflect the artist's direct connection with her surroundings, bringing to the canvas marks of natural phenomena such as rain, wind and sunlight, which result in works that challenge the traditional boundaries of painting.
During the talk, Sérgio Mah will address the main curatorial lines of the exhibition, explaining how Suter's work relates to the landscape, and how MAAT explores the exhibition space to emphasise these interactions. This event is an opportunity to understand the role of nature and chance in the artist's work, as well as the challenges and potential of exhibiting this type of work in a museum context.
