As part of the programming for maat Mode 2020, on 12 and 13 September, the Milano Design Film Festival presents a selection of documentaries exploring some of the themes that are relevant to modern architecture. The first question concerns the symbolism of buildings: what is the significance of a structure’s style, materials and proportions? What do clients expect from architects? An expression of power, wealth, glamour or innovation? If architecture reflects the era of its construction, the aspiration must be to create a sense of vitality and engagement. Inhabiting a building, or simply observing it, means to identify with it, to share its language and the messages that it inevitably communicates. The proposed films set out to analyse some of these topics.
With the support of Istituto Italiani Di Cultura Lisbona.
