MAAT joins ModaLisboa and hosts FAST TALKS supported by Nescafé.
Hosted by Rui Maria Pêgo, the talks continue to be ModaLisboa's noble moment of thought, especially relevant in a contemporary context that demands dialogue, clear information and the reinforcement of a sense of community.
The two panels have been designed as a response to the most relevant themes of the current Fashion System: the opportunities for concerted and sustainable investment, and the intersection between fashion and cultural heritage (the latter conversation will be in English). The talks will take place in the MAAT Oval Gallery, in the immersion of Joana Vasconcelos' Valkyrie Octopus, one of the works in the Plug-in exhibition.
Programme
17.00 — DESIGNING FOR GOOD
The business, the marketing, the change.
A discussion on the systemic transformations of fashion in recent years: what has changed, what has improved and what still needs to be changed in order to consolidate an agile, modernised industry capable of real positive impact. The three speakers share their perspectives, strategies and the investments needed for businesses to be able to respond to contemporary challenges.

Ana Duarte, Founder and Creative Director DuarteHajime
César Araújo, Chairman of the Board of ANIVEC, CEO Calvelex

18.00 — CRAFTING FOR GOOD
The art, the heritage, the future.
The intersection between fashion, art and craftwork has always been organic, but recent years — and a new generation of creatives — have blurred the boundaries between these practices. In this conversation, the boundaries cease to exist altogether: artists, designers and educators discuss the new opportunities of this intersection of disciplines, and the emerging territories that have yet to be explored.

Joana Vasconcelos, Artist
Sam Baron, Product and Interior Designer, Creative Director
