Art, Museums and Digital Cultures → Rethinking Change

Following the International Conference on Art, Museums and Digital Cultures (April 2021), this e-book aims to extend the discussion on the change paradigm, usually associated to the relationship between culture and technology.

Through the contribution of 32 authors from 12 countries, the book questions not only how the digital has inspired new artistic and curatorial practices but also how, conversely, critic and creative proposals in the fields of art and museums have opened alternative ways to technological development. Assuming the diversity of perspectives on the topic, from retrospective readings to the analysis of recent studies and projects, the book is structured in seven chapters and a visual essay, highlighting collaborative territories and the crossovers between different areas of scientific knowledge.

Available in open access, this publication is the result of a collaborative project between the Institute of Art History, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and maat – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology.
