PERFORMING THE EXHIBITION #1
Performing the exhibition #1
An exhibition is also a performative space where an unlikely performative encounter between the artworks, the visitors and the audience/actors can take place.
In Performing the Exhibition, several performers will be invited to embody and voice out all the stories behind this building, these works and the whole exhibition process.
In this installation/exhibition — which involves an intimate relationship between visual and performing arts, both through a continuous flirtation with the performative action required of the visitor and through the scenographic/theatrical dimension of its staging — the first performative action will be carried out in the different parts of the building that relate to exhibition design and the featured artwork.
A retrospective of artworks and stories that doesn’t have to be chronological but that promotes free associations of ideas, and where there’s a dialogue with the key elements of theatre — time, space, the actor, the text and its sound, the ritual and the audience, the actor and their absence, the time of life and death, the viewer/visitor/actor of the exhibition perceived as a community.
The first presentation features Ana Brandão and Ricardo Vaz Trindade.
