"The invention of Morel" 
The practice of the Spanish artist Dora García is based on interactivity and performance, using the exhibition space as a platform to investigate the relationship between art, audience and place, where she explores the relationship between reality versus fiction.
The workshop is inspired by the text “The Invention of Morel” by Argentine writer Adolfo Bioy Casares, which combines and questions the fear of death and the desire for eternal life and love, and new ways of approaching them are proposed.
How to react to a system of reality that we are not part of? The feeling of strangeness is increasing, the distance is increasing, and it is increasingly difficult to find anchor points in a system that repeats the same mistakes over and over, ignoring our need to negotiate a common reality that works for everyone.
 

Bio
Dora García was born in Valladolid, in 1965. In 1988 she graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. That same year he participated in the Muestra de Arte Joven, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. In 1989 he won a Nuffic scholarship that allowed him to study between 1989 and 1991 at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
The Spanish artist's practice is based on interactivity and performance, using the exhibition space as a platform to investigate the relationship between art, audience and place, where she explores the relationship between reality versus fiction.
His works of marked conceptual character employ different mediums such as performance, photography, installation, drawing, video, sound, creating situations or contexts that alter the traditional relationship between artist, work and spectator. He exhibited his works individually in some of the main international contemporary art institutions. He also participated in different international events: Manifesta 2 (1998), 8th Istanbul Biennial (2003), 16th Sydney Biennial (2008), 10th Lyon Biennial (2009), Gwangju Biennial (2010), 29th São Paulo Biennial (2010 ), 54th Venice Biennale (representative of Spain), (d)OCUMENTA 13 by Kassel (2012) and the 56th edition of the Venice Biennale (2015). The Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid dedicated a retrospective to her in 2018, where the artist produced new performances.
