VESTI LA GIUBBA is an opera performance created and presented by the Associação Setúbal Voz, inspired by the exhibition Pedro Cabrita Reis – “without sorrow of heart”.
The performance invites the audience to follow a story of fragility, in which art emerges as a way of confronting pain and freeing the heart from its burdens: Five minutes before going on stage, a singer receives tragic news. Yet he will still perform, as thousands of artists have done throughout the centuries. They smiled and made others smile; they sang and performed with a joy that concealed inner tragedies. His fellow performers will help him ensure that the show goes on. The show must go on.
Presented in the Oval Gallery at MAAT Gallery, the performance engages with the universe of Pedro Cabrita Reis and offers an experience that brings together music, body, and space, inviting audiences to reflect on the human capacity to transform vulnerability into creation.
