Text

The exhibition Isabelle Ferreira – Notre Feu presents the work of the Franco-Portuguese artist, who has been making a name for herself on the French art scene. Taking a sensory and political approach, the artist evokes clandestine emigration during the Salazar dictatorship, drawing inspiration from the stories of those who left ‘on the run’ for France.

Through ceramics, photographs and a large collage created in situ, the exhibition reflects on memory, exile and the feeling of belonging, transforming individual experience into collective testimony.

Guided tours of MAAT's temporary exhibitions are intended to be an informal space for experimentation, promoting knowledge and dialogue in a shared responsibility, inviting visitors to take an active role.
