Tour with artist and curator

On this special tour, Manuel João Vieira and João Pinharanda invite the public to explore The Purple Island: Landscapes and Notes, in an open conversation about images, references, memories and fictions that run through the artist’s work.

Filled with imaginary landscapes, enigmatic characters and echoes of the history of art and literature, the exhibition reveals a unique visual universe where humour, criticism, erudition and creative freedom coexist.

Throughout the tour, the artist and the curator will share stories, processes and interpretations of the works, offering new ways of exploring an artistic practice built up over more than four decades.

More than just a guided tour, this is a behind-the-scenes encounter with the exhibition, an opportunity to discover the multiple layers of meaning that inhabit this island made up of images, narratives and imagination.
