Text

This guided tour, designed for blind or visually impaired visitors, offers an inclusive sensory experience which relies on touch and the imagination rather than sight.

With a specialist guide, visitors will experience the museum spaces and the Poetic Earth exhibition in particular through tactile, scale-model reproductions of Anna Maria Maiolino’s sculptures specially produced in the same materials as the original works by Amanda Radino de Carvalho, a member of the exhibition’s installation team.  Through the forms and materials, participants are invited to explore the context and themes of the exhibition, as well as the textures, proportions and details of the works.

Throughout the tour, dialogue and personal interpretation are encouraged, valuing each visitor’s individual experience and promoting new understandings of art and its capacity to be experienced in multiple ways beyond the visual.
