Talks with artist from the exhibition An Oasis at Sunset
João Leonardo and Inês Grosso
The curators of the exhibition Rosa Lleó and Inês Grosso talk to some of the artists about the works and projects carried out within the scope of the commemorative exhibition, the 20th Anniversary of the EDP Foundation Awards.
João Leonardo was born in 1974 in Odemira, Portugal. Currently lives and works in Klippan, Sweden. He graduated in Art History from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1996. He attended the Independent Study Programme at Maumaus School of Visual Arts in 2003. He finished his Masters at Malmö Art Academy, Lund University, in 2009 with a study grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He was artist in residence at the International Kunstlerhaus Villa Concordia (Bamberg, 2010-2011) and winner of the EDP Foundation’s New Artists Award (2005).
João Leonardo exhibits her work regularly since 2002. Recent institutional individual and group exhibitions include: National Museum of Contemporary Art - Museu do Chiado, Lisbon, Portugal (2017); Europa: Polar Shift - Museu de Portimão (2016); Flying High, Falling Low - Galeria 111, Lisbon (2013) and Porto (2014); Breathe in, breathe out - Galeria Mors Mössa, Gotemburgo (2013) and Seven Seconds, Martin Bryder Gallery, Lund (2011).
