On May 18th, we celebrate International Museum Day, which in 2025 is held under the theme "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities".
So, on International Museum Day, this year with the theme ‘The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities’, MAAT proposes an active programme in dialogue with the permanent heritage and temporary exhibitions: a day filled with tours, workshops and yoga for all audiences - children, adults, and individuals with special educational needs.
"Museums have long ceased to be seen as places frozen in time, as guardians of immutable memories. The truth is that the past changes as the present unfolds — and it is in this perpetual movement that we meet the future.
But more than a meeting, it is a construction. A construction we undertake together: museum teams and audiences, in dialogue with the accumulated materials (the collections) or the circulating materials we temporarily host (the exhibitions). João Pinharanda, director of MAAT
Programme
Admission to the museum and all programming is free.
Participation in the activities requires registration on the same day at the MAAT Central ticket office and depends on availability.
