When MAAT closes, a world opens for MAAT Friends.
In the last Wednesday of each month, MAAT opens its doors exclusively to MAAT Friends for one hour after closing to the public. MAAT Friends After Hours offers in-depth guided tours, allowing participants to explore exhibitions in detail within an intimate setting. This is a moment for discovery, exchanging ideas, and connecting with the works, the space, and the people who share this unique experience.
The first session will take place on January 29, 2025, featuring guided tours of the exhibitions The Whole World Is a Stage by William Klein and INVERTED ON US by Catarina Dias. A special opportunity to explore two exhibitions that will close to the public early in February.
The tour is limited to the first 30 participants who confirm their attendance here. MAAT Friend +1 cardholders may bring a guest free of charge.

About The Whole World Is a Stage
The Whole World Is a Stage celebrates the rich and multifaceted work of William Klein, one of the most influential photographers of the second half of the 20th century and a major innovator in the field of visual arts. Spanning more than 200 works—including street photography, fashion, film, and editorial design—the exhibition highlights Klein's bold and performative approach, which transcended genres and cultural boundaries to capture the vitality of great metropolises. Curated by David Campany, this comprehensive exhibition delves into the constant tension between artistic avant-garde movements and the commercial world—a unique balance that defined Klein's career over six decades.
About INVERTED ON US
In this exhibition, Catarina Dias challenges the viewer's gaze to explore the limits of visibility and interpretation. By juxtaposing fragmented images with poetic words and verses, the artist creates an enigmatic dialogue between the legible and the imperceptible, inviting us to reflect on the mystery of images and the hidden depth of words. Curated by Filipa Correia de Sousa, the exhibition presents a body of work that reflects the artist’s dedication to painting and drawing while expanding the conceptual and sensory horizons of contemporary art.
