O Tempo das Andorinhas

In this musical performance, Manuel João Vieira and Corações de Atum perform songs from the album O Tempo das Andorinhas, characterised by a blend of romance and irony. Between songs, improvised interventions inspired by the exhibition will emerge, creating spontaneous pieces that translate into words and music the relationships between the figures and themes present in the paintings, like footnotes to the songs themselves.

Biography – Manuel João Vieira

Widely recognised for his career in music with bands such as Ena Pá 2000, Irmãos Catita and Corações de Atum, Manuel João Vieira (Lisbon, 1962) is also an established name in the visual arts. He began his artistic training at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, attending an illustration course taught by painter Maria Keil, and at the National Society of Fine Arts (SNBA) in 1982. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 1988.
He was a co-founder of several artistic groups, including the Homeosthetic Movement in 1983, Ases de Palete in 1989 and the Orgasmo Carlos collective in 2002. As part of O Candidato Vieira, a project launched in 2001, he announced his candidacy for the Portuguese Presidency in 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2026.
His work is represented in collections including the Elídio Pinho Collection, Serralves Foundation, EDP Foundation Art Collection, Luso-American Development Foundation, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Centre for Modern Art, among others. He is represented by Galeria Miguel Nabinho.
